Beacon Island Burial Sites
The Batavia disappeared into the Indian Ocean, and the victims of the mutineers remained on the islands, some in shallow graves. When these remains were rediscovered three and half centuries later, it prompted forensic archaeological investigations to attempt to uncover the identities of the victims and tell their stories.

Long Island Investigation
Long Island is historically, culturally and archaeologically significant in view of its confirmed association with the survivors of the wreck of the Batavia . Although few artefacts have been found, the island has never been subjected to close archaeological scrutiny, except for surface exploration for potential occupation sites.
