 Good job

The Duyfken team have done a great job.

The Duyfken was paraded through the streets of Fremantle on Thursday, 21 January 1999, from 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. This may be the first and last time you'll see a ship from 400 years ago trundling down Fremantle's Cappucino Strip. The Sail and Anchor brewery have launched a Duyfken Ale to commemorate this special event!

 Parade

 Ship Rigged

After the ship is rigged, the Duyfken will set sail into the Indian Ocean - seen here in the distance. The Maritime Museum courtyard will seem quite empty after the two years of hectic activity.

Roof

Behind the Norfolk pines is the Fremantle Boat Lifters where Duyfken will be launched on Sunday, 24 January 1999, close to where the replica of James Cook's Endeavour was built. Bill Leonard, Dufken's master shipwright and many of his team also helped to construct this historic masterpiece placing Western Australia at the forefront of replica shipbuilding.

Celebrations

What a great day people flocked to see the parade , and it went like clockwork with the help of Fremantle Council workers who moved obstructions and replaced them after the parade had gone by.
