We invite you join us in a virtual tour of HMAS Ovens an Oberon Class submarine built by Scotts Shipbuilding at Greenock in Scotland. Ovens was the third Australian Oberon built. Laid down on 17th June 1966, launched 4th December by the Lady Slim wife of Viscount Slim the Governor of Australia and commissioned on 18th April 1969. She is named after an Australian Explorer John Ovens and has the motto "Silence is Golden"

 Torpedoes:  23 x of types  Mk 8, Mk 23, later
   Mk 48 and Harpoon
 Original Cost: 10 million Australian Dollars
