The History Department of the Western Australian Museum is concerned with Western Australia’s social and cultural history from the time of European settlement.
The Department seeks to preserve and record the diversity of our cultural heritage and represent the full range of social and cultural experiences. Through its collections, exhibitions and research, the Department emphasises social, cultural and environmental change and the impacts of that change.
The History Department, part of the Division of Science and Culture, is based at the Kew Street Collections and Research Centre of the Western Australian Museum and is responsible for the Fremantle History Museum and Samson House in Fremantle.
