Thylacoleo

The Thylacoleo Camifex

The marsupial lion, Thylacoleo carnifex, was the largest, most ferocious mammalian carnivore ever to live in Australia.

The Thylacoleo weighed up to 130kg. As a comparison, a leopard weighs between 30-90kg and an African lion weighs between 150-225kg.

Present evidence indicates Thylacoleo lived from about 4 million years ago until about 46,000 years ago.
