Wheatbelt

The "Wheatbelt" is an expansive agricultural area created by widespread clearing of native forests beginning in the 19th century and still continuing today which has vastly modified the pre-human landscape. However, there are many more-or-less pristine nature reserves (often associated with granite outcrops) scattered throughout the region where 12 southwest species of frogs thrive. This region contains many arid-adapted species (5 species of Neobatrachus)in the eastern and northern edges.
