Western Australia has a long history of trading within the Indian Ocean region. This gallery looks at the movement of people and resources across the geographical and political boundaries. A wall of cargoes displays the incredible variety of trade goods, from sandalwood to sheep, whale oil to wheat, celebrating Western Australias maritime trade. Stories of immigration are also told in this gallery: there are tales about the gangways, steamers, laughter and tears that brought migrants into the Fremantle port, and carried loved ones away to war.
