Western Australian Museum Maritime Exhibitions

The Western Australian Museum maintains an active exhibition programme focused around its permanent installations. These permanent exhibitions are supplemented with temporary displays and exhibitions, generated from the Museum's own research and collections or in the form of touring exhibitions.

As the first Museum of the Indian Ocean, the new Western Australian Maritime Museum looks at the past and our future as a community on the edge of the Indian Ocean. With significant historic objects and boats that highlight Western Australia’s sporting and adventure heritage, the exhibitions tell the stories of human endeavour that bring to life our maritime past.

The exhibitions have been developed by the Western Australian Museum in conjunction with Melbourne design company Cunningham Martyn Design.
