From pearls to Patagonian Tooth Fish, this gallery highlights the contributions of the many different cultures that have led to the development the thriving Western Australian fishing industry, one of the most progressive fishing industries in the world. The gallery features stories from the past and the present that have helped to shape the industry - from Aboriginal fishing techniques and the people who have made Fremantles Fishing Boat Harbour famous since its small beginnings in 1885 to the estuarine and offshore fisheries and the specialised and highly regulated rock lobster industry. The gallery brings together a fascinating mix of technological innovation, peoples changing experiences and the challenges of managing the ever-increasing pressures on fish stocks.

This gallery has been sponsored by Sealanes and the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council. The story of pearling has been sponsored by M.G. Kailis Group.
