Granted a landing permit as a Miner in Kalgoorlie, he later worked as a Market Gardener, Woodchopper, Butcher & Labourer until he settled in Kelmscott working for the Water Authority. Ugo asked Luigina to come to Australia after 1 year of courting. They married in 1964 and had twin boys in 1966.
