Edward Pomeroy Barrett-Lennard brought from England six labourers, farm animals and building materials. He was allotted 2906 acres on Upper Swan. Named it St Leonards. Returned to England 1836 to help seek amendments to land lease laws in WA. He married Elizabeth Frances Graham 28/09/1837. They returned to WA in 1839 accompanied by nephew Edmund Thomas Barrett-Lennard, who later founded the Beverley family.
