Dad, Mum and I aged only 3 went to Northam camp. Then to Gidgegannup for work at Smiths Mill felling trees in bush, had to build own hut accom. Very harsh life. No electricity, provisions in cans, no fresh meat or veg, caught rabbits for stew. After three years and big bush fire, family moved to Midland.
