Ivan arrived in Australia at age 20. His mother, father and brother remained in Croatia. After first working in Carnarvon on a market garden, he settled in Spearwood and worked in a number of different occupations. Marrying Jakica Sain in 1967, they had 2 children and began their own market garden in Naval Base and currently reside in Spearwood.
