Granted land 4000acres, Avon River Rottnest Island - raised horsed for Indian market also farming. Married Marianne Thomson - went to Calcutta 1835, Joined East India Co. Returned to WA 1851 -traded with India, China - Easten colonies. Had office in High St Fremantle, agent for Lloyds London Insur. His ships traded up north coast. Was a justice of peace - helped form Canning road district 1871. Drew up plans for a better harbour, governor Weld appointed him nominee member of legislative council. Died in Fremantle June 1876.
