Edward John Harold Byfield arrived in 1840, one of 31 passengers on the WESTMORELAND. He married Jane Eliza Coates the following year. Edward was the first publican/owner of Mahogany Creek Inn. Their eldest of nine children, Edward George (1843-1930) married Elizabeth Hagan (1841-1910) who arrived in 1867 on the STRATHMORE from London. They had 5 children.
