The 6th child of his father's 2nd marriage (Michal/Aniela) - Bronislawa, Stanislawa, Stefania, Eugeniusz, Juzek & Wladyslaw. Worked on the family farm until captured by the Germans in November, 1942. In Germany, spent time in Auschwitz, Schramberg, Auslader, Landarbeiter, Lantulach, Schumacher and Innsbruk. Although his health suffered as a result of his time in Germany he voluntarily worked in extreme weather conditions as a fettler at Golden Ridge & Coonana on the Trans-Australia railway line on the Nullarbor for most of the 1950s.
