Eligible for 'ticket of leave' 5/11/1856 after being wrongly advised to plead guilty for an alleged offence. Worked hard, married Jane in 1862 & had a family of 15. Died after 40 years in Northampton area with large possessions of cattle, sheep and horses. His forefathers' crest said it all - "Invidia Major" - Beyond Envy.
