Seventh child of Bartholomew (Varthalamoos) and Ekaterini Kakulas. Mother passed away Sept 1918 aged 44 yrs. Attended Princess May School, Fremantle, and later worked in father's fruit shop and together with Evangelia assumed household duties. Married John T Kannis on 17th February 1929. They had one son and three daughters.
