APRIL HOLIDAY ADVENTURES AT THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM

Come and join the April holiday adventures at the Museum. Explore Mary Surefoot’s amazing shoe collection at the Maritime Museum, see Perth from a puppets perspective, explore sound and electronics at Fremantle History and search for hidden treasure at the Shipwreck Galleries, plus our regional sites are offering an assortment of fun holiday activities for the whole family!

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM - PERTH

See the Museum through a baby dinosaur’s eyes! Take a magical tour through the Museum with Deano, our very special dinosaur tour guide, perform in the Crazy Puppet-Headz Video Show, make a finger-puppet to take home and create your own fabulous stories in the Puppet Play Zone.

Experience close encounters with predators through a number of great animal activities in the Discovery Centre, you can make a shark mask or construct a big fish-little fish mobile – activities are available all day!

TIME:     10am – 2pm (last entry 1.15)

THE MARY SUREFOOT SHOE COLLECTION

Mary is back with more shoes than ever before! See her magnificent shoe collection, put your best foot forward in the shoe parade, create funky decorations for your shoes in the Sensational Shoes activity, or join Mary as she shows you how to look after your favourite collection in the Kid's Collector Club workshop.



TIME:     11.00am & 1.00pm (30 minute performance)

THE TREASURE OF THE GOLDEN DRAGON
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM - SHIPWRECK GALLERIES

Some pesky pirates have raided the Museum and hidden the treasure of the Golden Dragon. We need your help to find it and in return we'll give you a pirate's share of the treasure, plus a beautiful treasure chest to make and store your treasure in.

UNDER THE SEA
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM - ALBANY

Come along and discover the beautiful creatures that live under the sea. Join a two day workshop where you can help construct a giant turtle, a graceful ray or a beautiful seadragon, learn how to manipulate the giant puppets to glide and dance, or you can even create your own gorgeous puppet to take home.

HOOKED ON NATURE
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM - GERALDTON

Be inspired these April school holidays as you make puppets, create beautiful works of art and discover WA's amazing coastal history. Make your own turtle puppet, create a brilliant tropical 3D artwork, build a tiny puppet theatre with popstick puppets and demonstrate your awesome artistic skills to produce a spectacular screen print using ideas from the ANZANG photographic exhibition.

Puppets made by recrafting newspaper Puppets were very popular

 

Create amazing objects using reused materials. You can discover a world of mythical creatures as you make a pop-up card, or become a puppet master as you build your own marionette puppet from old newspaper. Using your super sleuth skills see if you can crack the code to find interesting recycled objects within the Museum and step into the Museum play zone to discover some fascinating toys made entirely of reused items.
