Bennett's multi-armed feather star
Anneissia bennetti
May be bright yellow, orange, orange brown or black and has numerous feathery arms.
Morphology
Occurs in a wide range of brilliant colours, including arms of bright yellow and black. May have 50 or more feathery arms up to 200 mm long. The cirri are more robust and longer than in other Australian comatulids.
Behaviour
Seen in the open during both day and night, often conspicuously on sponges. Benthic suspension feeder.
Habitat
Marine
Conpicuous, found on reefs and in sponge gardens elevated well above the substrate where strong currents prevail.
Distribution
Common in tropical Indo-Pacific. North western & eastern Australia, including Timor Sea & Lord Howe Island
