The Western Australian Museum's FaunaBase and FaunaList
Direct public access the Museum's collections databases is possible for the first time.
Western Australian frogs, reptiles, birds and mammals are now on-line, and other groups will follow soon. For each species, a map showing the distribution of specimen records in the collections, an image (if available) and a text distribution are provided.
FaunaList is a comprehensive, updated, phylogenetically arranged checklist of scientific names for each vertebrate group (amphibians, birds, mammals, reptiles and fishes) recorded from Western Australia and the surrounding seas.
Taxonomic Checklists
Checklists of the vertebrates of Western Australia were published in July 2001. This publication is available through the Museum Bookshop. An on-line updated version of these checklists is also available on the Western Australian Museum's FaunaList.
