After arriving in Albany Richard worked around Bornholm & Newdegate until taking up a virgin block in Bornholm. He married Lilian Dorothy Whittem in 1931 & raised four children - Bob, Betty, Jeanette & Geoff. He died while still farming at Bornholm in 1962.
