Josef and Johanna Ecseri were born in Hungary. In 1970 they escaped from the Hungarian communist regime to Italy and they spent eight months in an Italian refugee camp. In 1971 they were accepted by Sweden as refugees. In 1975 they decided to emigrate to Australia with their son Christian Robert.
