I am also a direct descendant of William Finlay. I would be interested in catching up with others researching his family tree. I have found evidence of forebears back to the 1700s.

Hi there guys,
I'm assuming that by the storyline I've been told from childhood that I can possibly be a distant prickle relative of the late William Finlay.
Currently in motion is my dna test from ancestry.com so I will have to wait and see. Living in bunbury my mother's side is the link her name Barbara Rutherford born sydney to my grandparents whom I'm certain lived in kattaning after leaving sydney to come West, Omar was a Finlay and a relative of the fleay family I believe if any information you could provide if any information I will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Greg

I have a very extensive family tree on the Finlays, going back to the 1600s. If anyone of this clan is interested (I am a direct descendent of William who arrived as a Pensioner Guard), please let me know. I am happy to share.

Hi all,
William Finlay and his wife Marjory are me Great, Great Grandparents. Their third child, Flora Macdonald Finlay, is my Great Grandmother who, with her husband and first child, Mabel Alice Chapman, moved to Adelaide in 1878. There they had 2 more children, William Alexander Chapman and Ernest Charles Chapman, who is my Grandfather. Ernest Charles Chapman volunteered for and subsequently joined the 4th Australian contingent (The Victorian Imperial Bushmen) which was sent to the 2nd Anglo Boer War in 1900. My grandfather was demobilised and remained in South Africa after the war. My father, Charles Ernest Goss Chapman, was born in South Africa in 1921. I'd love to hear from anyone with any information about William Finlay and Marjory Alcock's descendants. Thank you
