George Green boarded the Brig 'Tranby' in 1829 to journey to the Swan River Colony. In 1836 George married Jane Beacham, rearing a family of 10 children.

George and his brother, John (1805-1834) arrived as indentured servants to the Hardem family. George, an artisan, developed into an entrepreneur of his day, owning a flour mill, five vessels that plied the coastline, a brickyard and property.
