Born in Bessarabia, Ephraim Topelberg fled to Israel (then Palestine)in 1922 with his parents and five brothers to escape the pogroms. There he met his Perth born wife Dora. After marrying in 1934, they returned to Australia in 1940 with daughter Anne, after the outbreakj of war. Son, Alex was born in Perth. Ephraim served in the Australian Army during WWII, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He established a second hand goods business in William Street, Perth, became President of the Soccer Referees Association gaining FIFA recognition. Served on many Jewish communal organizations until late in life.
