William was a widower without children. Aged 80, he migrated to Bunbury to live with his niece and family, Dorothy & Charles Grimshaw and their daughters Wendy & Susan. William was in the Merchant Navy in WW1. His ship was torpedoed and he survived on a raft for seven days.
